At TERN, our strength lies in the diversity of people who bring their expertise, creativity, and passion
together for a common cause: safeguarding Sri Lanka’s tropical ecosystems. Our team is a dynamic
network of directors and founders, coordinators, members, researchers, and interns who work across
disciplines to turn science into action. From conservation biologists and ecologists to statisticians,
architects, conservation technology specialists, and practitioners in the field, each member contributes
unique knowledge and skills. What unites us is our shared commitment to nature and our
determination to create real-world solutions for biodiversity conservation and human–wildlife
coexistence.
We believe that conservation is multidimensional and requires voices from different fields and
communities. That is why our team includes not only scientists but also communicators, educators,
and field-level conservationists who bridge the gap between research, policy, and people. Whether
guiding a student through their first field survey, advising on the use of new conservation
technologies, or facilitating community-led restoration, our members ensure that TERN’s work is
practical, inclusive, and impactful. Together, we foster innovation, collaboration, and
resilience—qualities that allow us to address today’s environmental challenges and build a future
where people and nature thrive side by side.
