Tropical Ecosystem Research Network (TERN) is a government-registered nonprofit organization in Sri Lanka, committed to biodiversity conservation and environmental protection, through research, training, conservation activities, advocacy, and facilitating sustainable utilization of natural resources.
Our vision is to build an empowered network of stakeholders who will actively contribute to conserving the Tropical Ecosystems and their biodiversity.
The Mission of the Tropical Ecosystem Research Network is to conserve nature, specifically in the tropics, by actively engaging in and facilitating research, training, education, and community engagement that can help reduce threats to biodiversity.
At TERN, we bridge science, conservation, and communities to protect Sri Lanka’s biodiversity. Our work spans four core areas: Research: Generating actionable data for conservation. Awareness & Education: Inspiring schools, universities, and the public to become environmental stewards.
Together, these efforts ensure practical, lasting solutions for both people and nature.
